Institute of Biodiversity Genomics
Material composition, forms and formation mechanism of function diversity of life on the earth are unsolved mysteries- not solved by Darwin, and the basic problems in life science studies. Our team is one of the first teams internationally presenting study on biological diversity genomics and one of the most active teams in this filed. The study of the team aims to use the theories and technological overlapping of comparative genomics, evolution biology, population genetics, development biology and ecology and other disciplines to systematically answer the molecular hereditary basis of bimorph functions and species coevolution molecular mechanism, and conducts systematic researches on the above-said key problems in the past decade. By the end of June 2017, the teams has published over 130 research essays, including 31 on Nature and its series, 14 on Science, 3 on Cell and 14 on Gigascience.
Key research orientations:
1. Biogenesis process of large biome
2. Revealing macroscopic evolution mode with comparative genome analysis
3. Formation mechanism of key biological characters during the evolution process
4. Influence of environment on development and evolution of species
5. Molecular mechanism of cross-species symbiotic relationship
6. Adaptation mechanism of species in extreme environment
7. Sex development and evolution of sex chromosome
8. Development, nerves and molecular mechanism of biological social behaviors
