Institute of Omics Detection Technology

The task of Institute of Omics Detection Technology is to explore and develop various cutting-edge technologies to detect large sets of biological molecules, supporting the growing demand for omics research. By utilizing a multi-technology and multi-scale approach, we aim to develop and integrate different detection platforms to achieve real-time, full-coverage, and all-life-long surveillance of digital life. The current research areas include novel DNA sequencing technology, single-molecule biosensing, precision optics, point-of-care testing (POCT), etc.

(Institute of Omics Detection Technology has 47 members, including 4 postdocs, 9 with doctor’s degree, and 22 with master degree. Currently we have optics lab, microfluidics lab, opto-electronics lab, system integration lab, with 30m2 class-1000 clean room area.)


Lab of Precision Instrument: research and develop biophotonic and medical instrument with precision optics, advanced mechanics, fluidics and electronics, and stage of the art software and automation.

(There are currently 15 members, with background covering multiple disciplines such as mechanics, optics, electronics, fluidics, software and image processing. In terms of mechanics assembly and optics alignment/testing equipment, lab owns equipment such as alignment telescope, autocollimator and laser interferometer, MTF measurement device, spectrophotometer, wave front sensor, integration sphere, spectrometer and coordinate measuring machine.)


Lab of Single-molecule Biosensing: research and develop single-molecule biosensor and detection methods to measure various fundamental properties of biomolecules.

(There are currently 6 Ph.D. members and 2 postdocs, with diversed background in physics, chemistry, biology, microfluidics, microelectronics, electrical engineering, etc. Currently the lab participates in 2 government funded programs ,with total funding over 20 million yuan.)


Lab of Advanced Integration Platform: Integrate cutting-edge semiconductor, microfluidics, IT, electronics and related advanced manufacturing technology, to develop low cost, benchtop, high performance, multifunction, and user-friendly sequencing platform and related products.

(There are currently 24 members, with diverse background covering IC design and manufacturing, optics, machinery, electronics, microfluidics, software and algorithms, etc.)
