Infection Omics Research Institute
The great goal of the Infection Omics Research Institute of BGI is to apply innovative omics technologies to investigate the basic underpinning mechanisms and to advance the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of infectious diseases associated with viruses, bacteria and parasites. At current stage, our program objectives focus on:
1.Genomic basis for pathogen virulence, drug-resistance, evolution and immune evasion
2.Synthetic biology-based novel diagnostics and therapeutics of infectious diseases
3.Interactions between pathogen and host, and host microbiome
4.Molecular basis of spread of infectious diseases
We target high priority pathogens with a significant impact on regional, national or global morbidity or mortality. Our projects are supported by the state-of-the-art sequencing and synthesis platform of BGI, along with BGI’s major networks across government agencies, hospitals and research institutions.
